Welcome
The Sexual Assault Response & Prevention (SARP) Program was created in 2004 as a response to student, faculty, and staff perceptions and needs. We provide confidential support, information, and referrals to survivors and others whose lives have been affected by sexual violence, sexual misconduct and intimate partner violence. We believe that sexual and intimate partner violence is a community problem that will only be solved through community effort. Our vision is to help create an environment where sexual and interpersonal violence are not tolerated, and we strive to reduce the incidents and consequences of sexual misconduct on the Colorado College campus through education, outreach, dialogue, and supportive services.
Prevention
We engage in several levels of prevention activities on campus. Primary prevention activities are those directed broadly at the entire community to try to prevent sexual misconduct from occurring in the first place. Primary prevention activities range from public service information campaigns, to programs which provide information to the campus community about policies and procedures, to programs like the “Good Sex” series (intended to promote a healthy dialogue about sexuality and sexual behavior on campus). Check out our Upcoming Events calendar to find out more about campus-wide programming. Secondary prevention activities are aimed at those who are at high risk for either perpetration or victimization. Tertiary prevention activities are those aimed at victims/survivors and perpetrators to ameliorate the consequences of misconduct and to change the response of the system.
Response/Supportive Services
The office of Sexual Assault Response and Prevention provides supportive services, information and referrals. The office is located in Room 219 Worner Center. There are many additional resources on the CC campus as well as in the Colorado Springs community. Feel free to browse our Community Resources page.
