What: Film Series: The Magdalene Sisters Join us for this powerful film set in Ireland in the 1960’s, where 4 women were sent to the Magdalene Laundries to atone for their “sins.” Following the film there will be a discussion of the role of sexual assault in the film, the characters’ lives, and how these same issues affect all of our lives today. Co-Programed with the Film Series.

Searching for Angela Shelton

What: Searching for Angela Shelton In this powerful documentary filmmaker Angela Shelton travels across the United States to meet other women who share her name. What she finds is that 24 out of the 40 Angela Sheltons she speaks to had been sexually assaulted or molested. The film not only highlights the disturbing prevalence of sexual violence in our society, but also takes us on a journey of hope and strength.

What: FullPower Workshop: Adult Self-Protection and Confidence Building Program. Participants learn to defend themselves by using parts of their bodies as weapons and practicing full-force self-protection techniques on a fully padded instructor.
