FullPower Self-Protection Workshop

What: FullPower Self Protection WorkshopThis is a 5-hour workshop in which students learn and practice verbal and physical self-protection strategies and techniques on a fully padded instructor. Our extensively trained instructors teach students to defend themselves by using parts of their bodies as weapons and parts of the assailantÂ’s body as target areas.

What: No! The Rape Documentary this ground breaking, feature length documentary explores how the collective silence of acts of sexual assault adversely affects African-Americans while encouraging dialogue, healing, and reconciliation between all men and women. Includes testimonials from Black women survivors, commentaries from acclaimed African-American scholars and community leaders, and archival footage. To be followed by a facilitated discussion. Good Sex: Keep In Touch With Yourself

What: Good Sex Series Program: Keep In Touch With Yourself This series of programs focuses on healthy sexuality, because when members of a community are engaged in healthy sexual interactions, they by definition cannot be engaged in sexual violence. This program will focus on history, attitudes and benefits of self-knowledge.

What: Sex: What We Cannot Talk About Part of the Good Sex Series of Healthy Sexuality Programming. Social, cultural and political developments influence the ways in which we define masculinity/femininity, normal or abnormal sexuality, and what we consider sexy, erotic or queer. Student and faculty panelists will facilitate an exploration of these influences on the sexual expression and perceptions of different groups on campus.

White Ribbon Hockey Game

What: White Ribbon Day at the CC v. Michigan Tech Hockey Game The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men’s violence against women. Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone nor remain silent about violence against women. We’ll be passing out ribbons and information about how we as a community can mobilize to end violence against women.
