Campus Activities
The functions of the Campus Activities Office include advising the Campus Programming Committees, national Greek associations, student organizations, and the Colorado College Student Government Association; implementing leadership programs; facilitating the student organization registration process; and administering the Extra-Curricular Record and the Ritt Kellogg Fund.
The Campus Activities Office is located on the second floor of the Worner Campus Center
The Campus Activities Office wants students like you to have a say in our large events! We want student leaders to plan events and activities for the whole student body to attend. An event committee is comprised of 7 to 10 students and students can apply to participate in more than one. Joining a Campus Activities Event Committee is a great way to get involved at CC, to gain leadership experience, and to have a great time planning events that YOU want to attend.
Each Programming Committee listed above has an online application form. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact you for an interview (don’t worry – it’ll be fun). Once the committees are chosen, the Campus Activities Office will contact the members to decide on meeting times. Meeting times will vary depending on the Event Committee.
The deadline to apply for the Central Programming Committee is Monday, October 3 at 12 noon. The deadline to apply for the Winter Ball and Llamapalooza committees is Monday, October 17 at 12 noon. If you have any questions, please email us, call extension 6800, or stop by the Campus Activities Office (upstairs Worner 230).
Central Programming Committee The Central Programming Committee (CPC) will be a group of student leaders who want to remain involved with event planning throughout the entire school year. The CPC will be in charge of creating several small events throughout the semester, including Halloween, Friday afternoon music, comedians, hypnotists, etc. The CPC will also be in charge of running one larger event each semester (Battle of the Bands, End of Semester Dance, etc.). The CPC’s goal is to allow student leaders to brainstorm and create events that they want to see happen. The CPC will work closely with the Campus Activities Office during the year to plan programs and activities for the whole student body.
This year we hope to introduce a new programming series – Alcohol Free in Week Three is an initiative that was piloted in Spring of 2010 challenging CC students to go alcohol-free for a week. For some, it was not a change at all, as many students are living their lives at Colorado College completely free of alcohol; for others, it was something to think about, as alcohol is a regular part of some students’ lives; even more considered it a commitment to their studies and academics during the more rigorous week 3 of the block. Our promise to all of the students signing the pledge was that the College would offer great late night weekend alcohol-free alternative events so that they wouldn’t have to stay at home and sacrafice social opportunities. If you would like to be a part of planning regular week 3 weekend events, join this committee and we would love to have you on board!
Winter Ball Colorado College’s annual Winter Ball is a formal themed dance that takes place during 5th block at the Antler’s Hilton Hotel. The Winter Ball Committee will be in charge of planning, organizing, and working this event. The committee will do everything from picking out a theme to organizing catering, decorations, tickets, and entertainment. The committee will work closely with the Campus Activities Interns and the staff at the Antler’s Hilton Hotel to make Winter Ball a huge success.
Llamapalooza CC’s Llamapalooza is the annual music festival that takes place every 8th block on the Worner Quad. This committee will start working on this event during first semester to secure the bands for the music festival. During second semester, this committee will work with the Campus Activities Office to plan the event – organizing security, food, tickets, t-shirts, and everything else that makes Llama a beloved tradition at CC.
